Sad news

My son, Chambers Andrews Watkins-Blackshear, was killed in an automobile accident last night (4/1/13) in San Diego.  While we don’t know all the details at this time, it appears that it was a single vehicle accident while he was entering or leaving the highway, and that he was the only person involved in the accident.
Everyone who knew Andrew loved him.  He was an honest, shy, modest, intelligent 19-year old young man who aspired to build and work on custom performance automobile engines.  He was enrolled in the highly competitive Toyota-Ten education program and was looking forward to graduating this Spring.  This is a shattering and terrible event; and we know that things will never be the same without him.  However we know that he loved every minute of every day and his laugh and his smile will never leave us.

When arrangements have been finalized, I will share those details with you.  If you would like to touch base with us, our home number is 661-360-8962 and my cell number is 718-810-1400.

To Andrew's family- I am a NC friend to one of Andrew's aunt and uncle. I sat with his aunt yesterday as she talked about Andrew and what a wonderful young man he was. She reminisced about all the memories of Andrew and his brother. There were tears and smiles and even laughter as she told me sweet stories. It was easy to see that Andrew was a loving and kind man and was loved by many. You can see how special he was through those kind and engaging eyes...and what a beautiful smile! My deepest sympathy to Andrew's family and friends with their lose of their angel.

    Gone Away

    An Angel whispered
    take my hand and
    come with me
    you're work here is done.

I went away to a place
where there's no tears, nor sorrow
    only laughter and smiles,
there will always be a Tomorrow.

As I move amongst the clouds.
I'll look down and smile upon you,
    while the angels
    sing a heavenly song.

    I am not alone
    all who went before
    are here
    they awaited my return.

    I know you'll grieve
and wish I was still here
I am here in the memories
    you hold dear.

    Remember how much I
    love you
    and know I took your
    love with me.

    I did not wish for
you to cry, nor feel sad.
    My pain is gone and
    I am Free!

    Soon you'll come to me
    until then
    God will be with you
    Just as He's with me.

Andrew, I can't believe you're gone. You were like a brother I never had. We joked around with each and helped each other out when it was needed. You made a great impact by inspiring me to do great things. I am truly going to miss you a lot. You will always be in my heart. I'm still going to visit San Diego and enjoy the scenery like you wanted man. My deepest sympathy to Andrew's family. I know he was amazing to have in our lives. RIP man, hope to see you soon.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of this young man. You do not know me. I am a fellow Crawford Colt, class of 1972,
As the father who lost his beautiful daughter at the age of 13, I feel your pain today. No words can ever comfort this kind of loss. It is so tough at times to understand God's plan. He no doubt has one and our angels are smiling in Heaven today.
You can see your son's spirit in that great smile of his
    God bless!

I remember Andrew back in the early days, during our times at Gregory and Roosevelt Middle School. He was a great kid who was fun to be around, and his passion for cars showed at such a young age. We lost touch after that, as distance grew between us. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Andrew's family and friends.

Andrew was such an amazing friend, I can't describe how hard it is for me to look at this and not burst into tears, I can't explain how difficult it is to text him or call him and not get a reply back. I still ask myself "why God?" Andrew was such an amazing person and I made sure he knew that everyday. His smile was so bright and sincere. His kindness and his intelligence can not be compared. He will always be in my heart . Rest in peace Andrew, you're in a better place now and I hope to meet you up there one day.
