In April 2014, the San Diego Unified
Board of Education approved Lincoln High School Middle College, a supportive
academic environment that combines a high school and a community college,
providing high school students with opportunities to take college credit
classes and, in some cases, earn associate degrees before graduating from high
school.
The San Diego Community College
District Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) will provide the college portion of
the work, in collaboration with Lincoln High School staff. The curriculum emphasis at the campus will be
the STEAM subjects: Science, Technology,
Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. The
new focus will concentrate on hands-on, project-based learning, with an
advisory model utilizing coordinators, internships for students, student
exhibitions and dual enrollment with San Diego Unified and the Community
College.
The Lincoln High School Middle
College launch and reception will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, from 2-3P.M.,
at Lincoln High School, 4777 Imperial Avenue, San Diego 92113, at which time we
will recognize the accomplishment of the transformation and the launch of the
STEAM Middle College.
