I am writing to encourage you to organize your Black Greek Letter Organization (BGLO) to register members of our community to vote. BGLOs need to have a Saturday or Sunday afternoon voter registration drive and register five, fifteen, or fifty new voters per active BGLO member. Every BGLO chapter supports the "Get Out The Vote" GOTV voter registration drive. We just need to organize our resources to register members of our community who are probably not engaged in the political process - and they should be!
As BGLOs and members of San Diego's Pan Hellenic Council we have a responsibility to expand our community's influence in the 2010 elections and beyond. This grassroots voter registration effort will help build a strong African-American voting bloc, and influence the City and County politicans who look at registration rolls to determine how and where they should invest their attention and efforts.
